I'm not the artist, so I can't tell you why they made him crying....but I can give my own explanation.
I personally think he's crying for either of the following reasons.
1) When Jesus died on the cross, every sin ever imaginable, was put upon him...and I can only imagine that it would probably hurt...but perhaps he didn't care about the pain, but just the though and to know all the things that people would feel and experience in their life...even small children...you have to admit, that's pretty terrible and I'd bawl my eyes out too. ^^
2) I think I would cry too if I knew that my dad was going to have me die on a cross, take everyones sins, and then have me go to Hell. And then only to find out that, you know, a lot of the people in the world today don't even care that He did all this...they know, but they don't care. You know?
That's just what I think. Mostly the first one...but you know. I say "you know" too much. Sorry. =3
